My deep admiration for Olafur Eliasson’s work began with a truly unforgettable experience: his first monographic exhibition in Florence in November 2022. That initial encounter, set against the historic backdrop of the Renaissance city, was a revelation, transforming my understanding of light, perception, and the very essence of art.
More recently, I was fortunate enough to delve back into his mesmerizing world at the Centre Herrera in Valencia. Eliasson’s pieces there continued to astound with their evocative power. His installations are often a symphony of light and color, creating spaces that are not just seen but felt. The works are incredibly suggestive, often vibrant and deeply hypnotic, drawing you into a dialogue with your own senses. Whether playing with reflections, casting dynamic shadows, or immersing viewers in fields of pure color, Eliasson consistently crafts experiences that are both intellectually stimulating and profoundly beautiful. His ability to turn simple elements into such captivating and immersive environments is what truly sets his work apart for me.
